Is the tax system in the US fair? Very good question...

  5. i believe the tax system is fair, but the way in which the money is spent by the federal and state governments is not fair to the taxpayers.

  7. I think that the American tax system is an all around good idea. However, the way that the government spends the money that they get from taxes is not always how the "people" want it to be spent. Why do you think that the government doesn't always use the money in the best ways?

    ReplyDelete
  8. the tax system is fair. but the way our government spends all the tax money we give them is not fair.

  9. The tax system in the us is not fair. Some people who make less money pay a proportionately higher share of payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare than some people who make more money. These people who make less money should not have to pay more taxes because they dont have as much money to spend in other places like the people who have a higher income.

  10. I think the tax system in the US is kinda fair. Seems like the difference in how much you get for allowances would be greater. I noticed that a person with one more allowance sometimes only gets to keep one more dollar than a person with one less. That doesnt make much sense

  11. I agree with Kaitly and Michael. Taxation seems fair, but it really all depends on what their doing with it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. On the news lately there have been stories on public officials making way too much money. City managers should not be making $100,000. Firefighters in Las Vegas make an average of over $100,000, which is way too much coming directly from taxes.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oooh I agree with Kaitly and Michael also

    ReplyDelete
  14. It is fair because as long as u r makin money an hav a job u shuld b able 2 pay taxes

    ReplyDelete
  15. The tax system in the U.S. is not fair because taxpayers have to pay off debt that the government gets itself into.

    ReplyDelete
  16. i dont think it is all that fair. We as taxpayers sometimes pay for thing we dont agree with.

if we were to pull out of the war in Iraq, then perhaps some of our taxes could be pulled from the Department of Defense and moved to programs and agencies that would help support our crumbling infrastructure.

  18. If we didnt have the tax system and the government this country would fall apart, but our government isnt do the best it could for the American people

  19. However, the way that the government spends the money that they get from taxes is not always how the "people" want it to be spent.

    i agree with this statement

    ReplyDelete
  20. the taxes are fair but the government should spend the tax money in better ways.

    ReplyDelete
  21. it is fair to tax, i just think we should try to minimize the size of our government to avoid having to pay so much to support different gov. jobs (some of which we dont even need)

    ReplyDelete
  22. The tax system is not fair, but necessary. Because of the US's wasteful spending, we are now in this economic depression. The government should actually think.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Is it fair that our taxes should pay for the needs of people in other areas, when we have local people that need help. Shouldn't our tax money, be voted on to see what and where we want it to be spent?

    ReplyDelete
  24. while the taxes are bad in the US i think they could be much worse. at least were not denmark... http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/briefing-book/background/numbers/international.cfme not

  25. The tax system in America is not fair because it taxes the wealthier more money and this seems to punish the sucessful people.

  26. I favor a regressive tax plan for America!

  27. theres a fair tax act and it was made in 2009 im pretty sure nothing has been done with it or we the workers of america would be bringing home more money on pay day but heres what this website said about it:)

    "H.R. 25: Fair Tax Act of 2009
111th CongressThis is a bill in the U.S. Congress originating in the House of Representatives ("H.R."). A bill must be passed by both the House and Senate and then be signed by the President before it becomes law.
Bill numbers restart from 1 every two years. Each two-year cycle is called a session of Congress. This bill was created in the 111th Congress, in 2009-2010.
The titles of bills are written by the bill's sponsor and are a part of the legislation itself. GovTrack does not editorialize bill summaries.

    2009-2010

    Primary Source
See H.R. 25 on THOMAS for the official source of information on this bill or resolution.

To promote freedom, fairness, and economic opportunity by repealing the income tax and other taxes, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, and enacting a national sales tax to be administered primarily by the states
rep: john linder and he had 65 cosponsers
This bill is in the first step in the legislative process. Introduced bills and resolutions first go to committees that deliberate, investigate, and revise them before they go to general debate. The majority of bills and resolutions never make it out of committee. [Last Updated: Sep 23, 2010 6:23AM]
Last Action: Jan 6, 2009: Referred to the House Committee on Ways and Means.
Sometimes the text of one bill or resolution is incorporated into another, and in those cases the original bill or resolution, as it would appear here, would seem to be abandoned. "

if the tax system in the us was fair then why are people making acts to help make it fair i personally do not think the tax system is fair at all and i personally feel that if it keeps going up i might as well give the gov my whole pay check:) and thats not going to happen now is it!

    i got my information from

  28. The tax system in the United States is somewhat fair. What isn't fair is the people who are in the United States illegally. These people don't have to pay taxes but yet they still get the jobs, benefits, etc. Most of the time they get more than the hard working people who are legal in the United States. Just ain't right.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The Danes do pay a lot of taxes, but in return, they are given many benefits. Denmark was named the happiest country in the world a few years ago, mostly because of the benefits from paying a higher percentage of taxes. Taxes are not the evil here. It's the people spending them.

  30. so, a pony walks into a bar and asks the bartender for a drink

the bartender had a hard time hearing him so he's like "sorry can you speak up?"

the pony says "sorry im a little hoarse."

hahahahahahahahaha. oh its not funny? fine then.

  31. the amount of money you make should not decide on how much you are taxed. but it does..and that is not fair.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Taxes are important for the country's defense and to build infastructure but the rate of taxes today go to wasteful projects! Tax reform is needed.

    ReplyDelete
  33. illegal immigrants can pay taxes.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The tax system in America is fair because the more dependents you have the less taxes you have to pay.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The government is supposed to be run by the people of the U.S. Therefore, we should have more say as to how our tax money is being spent.

    ReplyDelete
  36. So when Carolina wins this weekend what are yall going to do?

    ReplyDelete
  37. it makes sense that how much money u make decides howm uch tax u pay. it wouldnt make sense for a billionaire to pay the same amount of taxes as a homeless man. think about it

    ReplyDelete
  38. tyler but what are they doing to get the money working all day outside in hot and cold weather but i understand what you are saying about them not paying taxes.

    ReplyDelete
  39. i agree with carp catching card.... dude:) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    ReplyDelete
  40. yeah it should be higher tax brackets for people who are well off financially

    ReplyDelete
  41. The tax system just needs to be reworked.

    ReplyDelete
  42. We have been paying taxes for a long long time and there is no way to avoid it legally. Its obviously the governments fault that the tax system sucks so bad.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I agree that everyone shouldn't pay the same amount of taxes because we all do not make the same amount. And some people need to calm down, because half of the taxes are used on things that aren't really important.

    ReplyDelete
  44. the whole tax thing to begin with i so complicated and confusing why cant it just be simple jeez! i got a headace from just reading about this stuff :(

  45. kody scott is the worst football coach ever!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. The tax system seems to be unfair to those who make money, but the people who make minimum wage have less tax against them. I feel that sales tax is even between all who puchase a single item. Why can't other proportional taxes be that way?

    ReplyDelete
  47. kody scott is a big old attractive liar!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. The tax system is fair to the average person. If you makes a lot of money though it can be unfiar. You get taxed way too much, and that person has just as much of a right to their money as the next one.

    ReplyDelete
  49. i feel like taxes are not fair why do we put so many taxes on people who are making money and giving money to the people who dont make anything because that makes the people who dont make any money not because they cant but because there lazy feel like they dot have to get a job because the rich people are paying for them to live.

(00)thats a pig face looking up at what i typed

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think the tax system is fair because when you have a job they take out taxes from your check and at the end of the year you have to file. When you file you will get all the money that you earned and work hard for when they took out the taxes.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I belive that the tax system is fair and i agree with devon on the fact that the way the gov spends our taxes are wrong.I think that the gov needs to rethink what we the people need for the US to remain on top.

  52. I feel as though our tax system is good but not great. I feel as though the people with a higher income, I feel that lower income need less taxes

    ReplyDelete
  53. i think the fact that the rich will get taxed more then middle or lower class is a good idea, because the tax money would nothing to them and any one wont get hit so hard.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I am the best o line coach in rec league

    ReplyDelete
  55. the tax system isnt fair. we should be tax on what we use, like public schools, not just make everyone pay for things they even dont use.

    ReplyDelete
  56. i think that our tax system isnt good because of the fact that even though people are paying taxes the country is still in debt.

    ReplyDelete
  57. does anybody know were i can find a janitor from 14 carrot

    ReplyDelete
  58. The tax system in the US is fair its just that the way in which the government spends the money that americans pay to the government is ridiculous... americans do pay a little too much, but if they would spend it on more effective things and ways it would be more effective

    ReplyDelete
  59. Kody Scott is also the best janitor at 14 carrot

    ReplyDelete
  60. I would have to disagree with the comment that the tax system in the U.S is fair. I believe that in some ways it is, like with the "ability to pay principle" because if you make very little, you can't afford to spend all your money on taxes. But on the other hand, its like a punishment for people that make alot of money. The other way that it is unfair is that there are always rich people that find a way to get out of paying taxes.

    The End

  61. Jon Holleman does not know how too play soccer

    ReplyDelete
  62. I aslo agree with supercoolguy93 because the taxes that the government takes out, they are helping the people who dont want to work because the government is helping them and their needs by not working and they are use to the government system. The people who works, work hard for their money and that is not fair we are working for other people who want to be lazy and dont want to work.

    ReplyDelete
  63. i agree with ojhn and devon that the gov spends the tax money on stupid stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  64. When the pilgrims arrived at Plymouth Rock in the 1600's they came to the new world to avoid the kings taxes and for religious freedom. Even after we fought Britian for our independence because of the high tax and we still have taxes. Do I think they are fair no and yes but without taxes the goverment couldn't support the country the way it needs to. I can understand people paying taxes on property and large purchases or cigaretts but to keep raising taxes on useless things is just the goverment trying to take our money. It isn't fair because the government is so corrupt in many ways. It seems like the people of the US dont trust the goverment and we should rebel by living off the land and refusing to pay taxes and resort to our pioneering fathers.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I believe that the tax system can be swayed as both good and bad because it can be good in that you get what you payed in at the end of the year but bad because there are programs that people who dont work can live off of the government. I think that people who work hard for what they have should have more bennifits with the government and that people who sit at home and do nothing should have to do something to earn the bennifits of someone elses hard work.

    ReplyDelete
  66. are you talking with that big yellow bus you drive

    ReplyDelete
  67. BUT THEN TAX IS GOOD BECAUSE AS U PAY YO TAX U CAN FILE FOR YO TAXES N GET ALOT OF MONEY AT THE START OF DA YEAR

    ReplyDelete
  68. The tax system might be fair if you are in the right bracket and dont have to pay more taxes or get tax cuts, but for the people that make over $250,000 a year its completely unfair the government takes more money from people who earn more money something like 39% or at least thats what Obama is trying to do. Those people work just as hard (if not more) than the other people that do not get taxed as much and those are the people who will spend money therefore putting money into the economy which isnt doing so great. So until there is a flat tax and no one is playing robin hood then the tax system will be forever unfair!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Changing the tax system isn't going to pull the country out of debt. The only change of the tax system that could help our country is tax raises, or the government could stop spending all the tax dollars on themselves including luxuries, unnecessary visits, etc...

    ReplyDelete
  70. i agree with mr rogers on agreeing with ojhn and devon that the government should spend the money more wisely instead of just putting us in more and more debt

    ReplyDelete
  71. I also like the filing taxes system but the tax percents should but a little bit lower than where they are now and the money that u receive back is fair because if u have no money taken out of your check you will still pay the taxes at the end of the year and if u do have money taking out of your check then that will make you feel like you made money in the end because you receive money in the end during tax filing season..

    ReplyDelete
  72. The tax system in the United States is a mess. The tax brackets are not suitable for today's income and living expenses. Tax brackets should move up drastically to balance the burden of paying taxes. It is not fair for a person making 250,000 to be paying the same rate of tax as someone making 25,000,000.

Taxes are a necessary institution from which the government has income to operate and provide for the people. However, the Federal Government has become excessively huge and has become involved and indebted in thousands of seperate agencies and endeavors. This has caused the government to require more and more tax revenue in a time in which the average income amongst Americans has dropped and unemployment risen.

    ReplyDelete
  73. America needs too change something about the way we do things cause were in debt.

    ReplyDelete
  74. The current tax system we have in the US is unfair. the system should be one in which people and businesses with higher income or profit pay at least as high a percentage of their income as people and businesses with moderate and lower incomes.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yo this tax system be raaw them boyz dont know what they doin and dey should get dat fixed n junk

  77. To kieanta and supercoolguy93-
Although there are people out there that are lazy, there are also people out there that don't have the ability to work for various reasons, and they need our help. And taxes don't only pay for people that can't work, they also pay for things that we need like roads, fire departments, policemen, military services, and other important things that wouldn't be possible without taxes.

    ReplyDelete
  78. i agree with supercoolguy93 why should people with jobs pay for people with jobs

    ReplyDelete
  79. I agree with Colby because we wont get the country out of debt if we change the tax system unless it is something miraculous.. but we can maybe get out of debt if we raise taxes and the government spends the taxes on good things and not frivolous luxuries

    ReplyDelete
  80. tremaine wanna play some cards in the bathroom after school?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Hey bruh Bruh The man be holding us down yo sharter right our tax system is weak they got too get that fixed like white on rice

    ReplyDelete
  82. illegal aliens dont have to pay taxes and our taxes are paying for their health care and everything else i think this is unfair to us as citizens of the united states who work hard for their money and dont want to see their tax money go to someone that isnt even suppose to be here.

    ReplyDelete
  83. i think we should have to pay taxes but i think the percent that we pay should be lower!

    ReplyDelete
  84. i'm sure that some corrupt politicians find ways to make more money off of our taxes than they should

    ReplyDelete
  85. I agree with Lauren, that our money helps illegal aliens. There should be a way for us to figure out how to have more influence on what our tax money is used for.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I also agree with Lauren. the Illegal aliens shouldn't be allowed to use goverment funded benefits inless they pay taxes, otherwise it is completely free for them.

    ReplyDelete
  87. illegal people do pay taxes maybe not all but somes do but thier are also people that are legal in the united states who dont pay taxes so what about them?

    ReplyDelete
  88. our country would make more money if we taxed illegal immigrants. i mean, if they are going to just come into the country like that they might as well pay more taxes.

    ReplyDelete
  89. also, there are millions of illegal immigrants. so the amount of money we made would skyrocket.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I agree with what 88fingersEdward said and that we need a tax for the us to stay on top but that alot of the tax money gose to places and jobs that we dont need

    ReplyDelete
  91. i think that the US should do something about all of the people who are living and receiving health insurance for the money that americans pay because the illegal immigrants arent working and they are getting the money that we pay to have the health and medical bills payed for...

    ReplyDelete
  92. i dont agree with suzie because for the US to get out of the recession we are either going to have to raise taxe % or just stay at the same rate and use the money that US citizens are paying and use that money for better uses or just wiser

    ReplyDelete
  93. Taxes need to be more equally distributed among taxable goods/services/properties. Also, i think tax money is often earmarked in bills to go to miscellaneous causes/funds/projects that do little to improve the economy. This needs to be corrected. Small businesses should also be given major tax breaks so that they can grow and prosper

    ReplyDelete
  94. i agree with noah on the fact that we do need to raise taxes but we also need to do away with having to pay for healthcare and it should be payed for by the government because then you could raise the taxes and people would not be so mad about it and honestly most of them would be blind by the new tax because they would be so caught up in the new free healthcare.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I conquer with dwight due to my knowledge of working for a small buisness that is suffering from taxes and needs a break because our profits are low and its hard to pay taxes when your buissness is struggling.
